THREAT-WATCHOT & ICS SECURITY
Operational Technology Security
Industrial control systems and production environments need monitoring that respects uptime requirements. We extend detection into OT/ICS environments without introducing the disruption risk of standard IT tooling.
What you get
Most MDR providers only cover IT. We extend visibility into OT and ICS environments, using passive monitoring approaches suited to industrial networks, so manufacturing, energy, and infrastructure operators get the same 24/7 coverage as their office network, without touching production stability.
Passive network monitoring
Traffic-based visibility into OT/ICS networks that doesn't require agents on legacy equipment that can't support them.
Asset and protocol visibility
Identification of devices and industrial protocols running on your OT network, including equipment IT teams often can't see.
IT/OT boundary monitoring
Detection focused on the connections between IT and OT networks, where most real-world OT incidents actually originate.
NIS2-aligned reporting
OT monitoring evidence formatted for NIS2 obligations that specifically extend to operational technology and critical infrastructure.
How OT and ICS monitoring is rolled out
In industrial environments, availability and safety come first. Every stage below is planned with your operations team, and nothing touches production without their agreement.
Scoping with operations
We agree with your operations and engineering teams which sites and network segments are monitored, when work can happen, and which change rules apply. OT and IT security rarely share the same priorities, so this step matters more than any tool.
Passive deployment
Monitoring works from a mirrored copy of network traffic, for example from a switch mirror port or a network tap. Nothing is installed on PLCs, HMIs or controllers, and fragile devices are not actively scanned.
Asset and communication baseline
From that traffic we build an inventory of devices, the industrial protocols in use and the normal communication patterns between them. Many operators see their full OT asset list for the first time at this point.
Detection and escalation
New devices, unexpected connections between IT and OT, unusual commands to controllers and remote-access activity are flagged to the 24/7 SOC and escalated to THREAT-WATCH engineers and your OT contacts. Response actions inside OT are agreed with your team in advance, because safety and uptime come first.
Reporting
You receive findings on assets, exposures and incidents in a form that supports your risk management and NIS2 obligations, and that your operations team can act on.
What is covered, and what is not
Covered
- Passive monitoring of the OT network segments agreed during scoping
- Asset and industrial protocol inventory built from observed traffic
- IT/OT boundary monitoring, where most real-world OT incidents start
- Monitoring of remote-access paths into OT, such as vendor connections, where that traffic is visible
- Escalation to your OT contacts and evidence for NIS2
Not covered
- Changes to PLC logic, control configurations or safety instrumented systems, which stay with your engineers and integrators.
- Active scanning of fragile devices, unless you explicitly agree to it.
- Patching of control systems, which depends on vendor support and your maintenance windows.
- Physical security of sites.
OT security and NIS2
NIS2 covers many sectors that run on operational technology: energy, transport, drinking water and wastewater in Annex I, and manufacturing, chemicals and food in Annex II. Article 21 applies to the network and information systems an entity uses to provide its services, and in these sectors that includes OT. Asset management, incident handling and business continuity are hard to evidence without visibility into the plant network. An OT incident that causes severe operational disruption is likely to be a significant incident, which triggers the Article 23 reporting timeline. Whether your OT falls in scope depends on your sector and size, so confirm it before planning.
Which plans include OT and ICS security
OT/ICS security is an add-on on THREAT-WATCH Gold and included on Platinum. Both plans also include on-site visits: on Gold within Northern Greece, and on Platinum as standard anywhere. Since most OT incidents start on the IT side, OT monitoring sits on top of the 24/7 SOC monitoring and MDR that every plan already includes.

Will this disrupt our production environment?
We use passive monitoring approaches designed for OT environments specifically to avoid the uptime risk that standard IT security agents can introduce on industrial equipment.
Do you support legacy ICS equipment?
Passive network monitoring works without installing anything on the equipment itself, which is what makes it viable for legacy systems that can't run modern agents.
Is this required under NIS2?
NIS2 extends specific obligations to operational technology in several critical sectors. Ask us to assess whether your OT environment falls under those requirements.
Do you need to install anything on PLCs or HMIs?
No. Monitoring is passive and works from a copy of network traffic, so the control equipment itself is not touched.
Will the SOC shut down our production line?
No. Response actions inside the OT environment are agreed with your operations team in advance. The SOC escalates; disruptive actions on production are your team’s decision.
Which industrial protocols do you support?
Coverage depends on what runs in your plant, and we confirm it for your specific environment during scoping rather than quoting a generic list.
Do we also need IT monitoring?
Yes, and you already have it. Most OT incidents start in the IT network, through email, remote access or a compromised workstation. Every plan includes 24/7 SOC monitoring and MDR on the IT side, and OT monitoring builds on it.
Can you visit our plant?
Yes. On-site visits are included on Gold within Northern Greece and on Platinum as standard anywhere.
