ALTERNATIVES

Looking for an alternative to your MDR provider?

Straight talk on why mid-market teams look beyond the big MDR platforms, and where THREAT-WATCH fits instead.

How to choose an MDR or MSSP provider

Most MDR services look alike on a datasheet: 24/7 monitoring, AI-assisted detection, a response team. The differences show up during an incident and at renewal. Before comparing names, ask every provider the same questions: who you can actually reach when something happens; what the SOC may do without waiting for your approval; whether incident response is included or billed separately; whether you must buy a specific SIEM or endpoint product first; and what evidence you get for NIS2, ISO 27001 and your insurer.

International MDR vendors bring scale, mature platforms and large analyst teams, and many are a strong fit for large or US-centric organizations. Their packaging and reporting are usually designed around a US buyer, so EU-specific needs such as NIS2 incident reporting are worth confirming. Greek and regional MSSPs work in your language and time zone and know the local regulatory picture, but several also sell integration, trust services, testing or their own platforms, so ask how much of the business is security operations.

The table below summarizes each provider using the same facts we cite on its comparison page. It is a starting point, not a verdict: confirm current packaging with each vendor directly.
